What to expect

Walk through the centre of Bihać with a local guide and discover the stories, hidden corners and landmarks of this city on the Una. The tour is the right choice for anyone who wants to feel the authentic atmosphere and spirit of Bihać. Easy pace, five key stops.

1. Fethija Mosque

The tour starts in front of the Fethija Mosque, the former Gothic Church of St. Anthony built at the end of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century. This impressive building, converted into a mosque by order of Hasan-pasha Predojević, still preserves the Gothic rose window above the entrance, part of the original windows, and recognisable architectural lines. The minaret made of bihacite stone replaced the old bell tower in 1863, and the preserved Arabic inscriptions testify to a rich past.

2. Captain's Tower

We continue to the Captain's Tower (Kapetanova kula), a symbol of Bihać's past and a national monument. This medieval fortress was the seat of the captaincy and later a prison. Today it hosts exhibitions and stories that preserve the spirit of times past.

3. Church of St. Anthony of Padua

Next is a visit to the Church of St. Anthony, built at the end of the 19th century on the foundations of a medieval church. With its recognisable bell tower, the church was for centuries an important symbol of Bihać. Its story continues to live on, even after severe damage during the Second World War.

4. The City Island and wooden bridges

The walk continues across the City Island (Gradska otoka), a special place at the very heart of Bihać. Wooden bridges, the river and the greenery create a unique atmosphere and the charm of urban islands.

5. The Girl from the Una

On the island you are greeted by the statue of the Girl from the Una, a beloved symbol of the city. The sculpture, unveiled in 1986, is the work of sculptor Vladimir Hrljević and keeps alive the legend of a Roman warrior and the irresistible beauty of the Una.
